Carpe Data presented a session titled "Data Foundations for End-to-End Fraud Detection" at the ITC Vegas 2024 conference, which took place October 15-17 under the theme "the universe of possibilities."
Matthew Murphy, Vice President of SIU Anti-Fraud Programs at The Hartford, spoke during the Carpe Data-presented session. Murphy warned that the sophistication of artificial intelligence will continue to improve over time, making fraud detection increasingly challenging for insurers.
Murphy cited specific examples of AI-generated fraudulent claims evidence he has encountered, including faked water damage photos and synthetic images of shingle damage from wind events.
